Common Bisaya Swear Words

Listed below are considered bisaya swear or bad words though like any other languages, these bad words can be use in a playful or dagrading. It depends on how it is delivered, the facial expression and tone of the voice. So be careful how you say it and who you say it to.

1) Buang / Boang – which means silly or crazy. This is a most common bad word usually used when someone is angry or just plain expression. This is usually coupled with other bad words.

Examples:
“Ikawng buaanga ka” – You bastard!
“Ka boang” – what a silly thing done
“Binuang” or “Binuang ra” – nah, I’m just kidding
“Buang!” “Hoy Buang”- You, silly!, You stupid!, You bitch!
“Buang ka?” – Are you crazy?, Are you out of your mind?

2) Piste – means pest/ annoying

3. Yawa (noun) – a) refers to a person, it means devil/evil.
“Pagkayawa naman lang gyud!” – What a devil!, What an evil!

4. Yawa (adjective) – b) refers to some amazing act, from the bisaya word “Kuyawa” means “dangerous” or “amazing”.
“Pagkayawa naman lang gyud!” – What a devil!, What an evil!

5. Animal – behaving like an animal without values and good manners
“Animal ka!”

6) Amaw – fool

7. Atay – english meaning is liver but not when used as swear words.

8. Kayata – equivalent to english word fuck.

Most often if the person is really upset or mad, these words are combined and repeated. Like:
1) Pisti! Animal! Way batasan!
2) Hoy buang! Animala ka!
