Bangkarote means being broke;bankrupt; not able to pay debt. You might think that bangkarote is a spanish term? No-it is actually Italian phrase  “banca rotta” which means “broken bench”.

Years ago, Italian merchants setup shop using benches, and if they didn’t have funds to keep their business, it would be broken to prevent  them from conducting business anymore.
